Open tryouts for the 2027 winter/spring season will be held at the Junior Cup Golf indoor facility on the following dates:
Eligible athletes should attend only one scheduled tryout date of their choosing. Each tryout will last approx. ~20-30 minutes, Further instructions regarding tryouts will be sent to registered participants prior to the tryout dates. Be sure to register early to stay up to date on all the communications. See eligibility requirements below.
There is a nonrefundable $10 fee to tryout. Participants must register in advance. All skill levels are encouraged to try out.
Tryouts typically include full swings several different clubs as well as putting and chipping attempts on a practice green.
Juniors should bring golf clubs to use at tryouts.
Team Formation for Open Tryout Participants:
Following the tryout process, teams are expected to be announced during the first week of October after all Junior Cup Golf communities have completed tryouts.
Priority for placement into a Junior Cup Golf program will be to the nine established communities. Open tryout participants will be invited to participate in a competitive, academy, or developmental program based on tryout results and subject to coaching availability and resource limits. Open tryout participants will be eligible to fill in spots on existing community based teams subject to space and resource constraints. Junior Cup Golf will make every effort to place as many open tryout participants into a program appropriate for their development as possible.
Eligibility:
Boys and girls in grades 5th through 8th grades are eligible to participate in open tryouts. Golfers that do not otherwise meet the residency restrictions of one of our already established school district programs should select "Open" as their school district when registering.
Junior Cup Golf participants train indoors over the fall or winter months at Junior Cup Golf's newly expanded training center. Team members train using top tier simulator technology coached by professional instructors and knowledgeable parent coaches. The Junior Cup Golf training facility also has sizable areas to practice putting and short game.
For those Open Tryout participants assigned to a competitive Junior Cup Golf team, golfers will play in golf matches against teams within the Junior Cup Golf network.
Matches are held in the spring, from mid April to mid June. Up to 6 team match events for grades 5th-8th and up to 4 team match events for grades 3rd-4th.
Team golf formats allow the juniors to gain experience competing on the course alongside teammates, reducing some of the pressure from an otherwise individual sport. Match formats may vary, but typically involve 2v2 scramble format for 9 holes.
