2025 Tryouts:
Registration for tryouts for the 2025 Arrowhead Junior Warhawks Golf Team is now closed.
Tryouts were held at Western Lakes Golf Club in Pewaukee on the following dates:
There is a nonrefundable $10 fee to tryout. Participants must register in advance. The tryout fee is collected to help cover costs associated with tryouts.
Tryouts typically include full swings on the driving range using several different clubs as well as putting and chipping attempts on a practice green. All skill levels are encouraged to try out.
Juniors should bring golf clubs to use at tryouts.
Team Formation:
Following the tryout process, we expect to announce teams within a week of the final tryout date. Depending on turnout at tryouts and coaching availability, there is no guarantee that each grade level will have a team.
Eligibility:
Boys and girls residing within school districts that feed into Arrowhead Union High School in 3rd through 8th grades are eligible to tryout. Participants may attend private schools outside of the Arrowhead district, but to be eligible they must reside within the district.
The Junior Warhawks golf team will train indoors over the winter months at Junior Cup Golf's new training center. Team members will train using top tier simulator technology coached by experienced instructors and knowledgeable parent coaches. The Junior Cup Golf training facility also has sizable areas to practice putting and short game.
Weekly indoor practices start the second week in January and go until the end of April. Each team is assigned a 90-minute practice each week, which could occur on a weekday evening or weekend time slot. Practice times are TBD until after tryouts when Junior Cup Golf is able to allocate facility time to all of the teams in the Junior Cup Golf network.
The Junior Warhawks Golf Team will play in golf matches against teams within the Junior Cup Golf network.
Matches are held in the spring, from late April to early June. Each team typically plays 6 matches against other teams within the Junior Cup Golf network.
Team golf formats allow the juniors to gain experience competing on the course alongside teammates, reducing some of the pressure from an otherwise individual sport. Match formats may vary, but typically involve 2v2 scramble format for 9 holes.
Junior Cup Golf is a nonprofit organization that relies on the help of its community members to support the program. Volunteering is not required to participate on a Junior Cup team, but those who do get involved can have a big impact on junior golf in their community. Junior Cup Golf is looking for Arrowhead parents to get involved as coaches or in other ways to support the team. Please reach out to ian @ juniorcupgolf .com with any questions!
