Attention Student Athletes in the Germantown School District!
Germantown Junior Warhawks Golf Program:
A junior golf development program for students in the Germantown School District joins the Junior Cup Golf network for its inaugural season in 2024!
Golf does not need to be an individual sport. The Germantown Junior Warhawks golf team format will feature:
- Team Golf: Junior golfers will be grouped to align players with their school districts.
- Format: Team formats allow players to compete alongside teammates, reducing some of the pressure from an otherwise individual sport.
- Fun Atmosphere: Golfing with friends and classmates enhances the fun and encourages development.
- Accessibility: You don't have to be a parent with golf knowledge or have a country club membership to introduce your child to this life-long-sport.
2024 Tryouts:
Tryouts for the 2024 Germantown junior golf team occurred on:
- Friday, September 22, 2023 from 5-7pm, or
- Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 4-6pm.
Did you miss tryouts? Depending on the grade level, there may still be an open spot. Registration for tryouts using the form below is still open - we will be in contact with each new registrant about potential openings or other opportunities.
There is a $10 fee to tryout, if paid in advance, or $15 if paid on the tryout date. The tryout fee is collected to help cover the driving range time and related tryout costs.
Junior golfers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend tryouts.
Juniors should bring golf clubs to use at tryouts.
Team Formation:
Following the tryout process, we expect to announce teams by Thursday, September 28, 2023.
Eligibility:
Boys and girls within the Germantown district in 3rd through 8th grades are eligible to tryout.
Winter Training:
The Germantown junior golf team will train indoors over the winter months using top tier simulator technology coached by experienced instructors and knowledgeable parent coaches. Each junior golfer will practice alongside teammates in a fun environment.
The practice schedule is reasonable - one practice per week in the winter - to allow our junior golfers to participate in other sports and activities while still getting quality golf reps at practice.
Team Events:
Outdoor team intrasquad competitions and matches against other teams in the Junior Cup Golf network are held in the spring.
Player Registration Fees:
The costs of the Germantown junior golf program are expected to be covered by player fees and donations from supporters and sponsors. Germantown junior golf is a program under Junior Cup Golf, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Player fees are $525 for the 2024 winter to early summer cycle. These fees for the season are not due until after the junior makes the team. Fees include:
- Indoor winter training sessions using top-tier simulator technology and indoor short game practice resources. Weekly practices start in January and go through April.
- Instruction from parent coaches using Junior Cup Golf curriculum with supplemental instruction/clinics from outside instructors.
- A schedule of outdoor team events / competitions in spring/early summer 2024.
- A Germantown junior golf team polo shirt and practice shirt.
